I will do away with the mockery of parroting prayer. I will pray deeply until the darkness of meditation burns with Thy flaming presence.
Daya Mata’s Daily Spiritual Practices
"The first thing I do when I rise in the morning is sit for a period of meditation and practice the techniques taught to me by Paramahansa Yogananda for interiorizing the consciousness and absorbing the heart and mind in God. After my meditation, I go to my altar and pray for all those who have asked for prayers. Before I go into my study, I read from one of Paramahansaji’s books. I take his thoughts deeply into my mind and say, ‘Lord, let me follow these words this day.’ As I begin my duties, I once again pray, ‘Lord, whatever decisions I make today, let them be based upon Your wishes.’ Then I go to work. I face whatever comes, good and bad. And I love it! I would be unhappy if I weren’t serving. For me, part of loving God is finding a way to give constructive service. Then, before retiring, I again have a period of meditation, of communion with Him."
